Last night, I almost had an attack.

Why? Because my boy did something even a 5 years old with a common sense would not do.

What? He let a stranger into our house.

How? The stranger was persuading us to switch from our current Hydro provider to them.

So as we were about to start our dinner last night, somebody rang our doorbell. Natuarlly, my boy went to see who it was. Meanwhile I was putting the final touches to our meal and setting up my computer so we can watch an episode of NCIS. Next thing I see him coming into the kitch,en grabbed his cellphone and went back to the foyer to continue chatting w/ the stranger.

At this point, I was thinking why hasn't he gotten rid of that person?

10 mins later, he came back to the kitchen (I was starving so started eating already). I asked what was that all about?

(Hold on to your seat la) He said "that guy was kind of suspicious. He said he was from Enbridge (our current Hydro provider) but then he wanted me to sign a contract." My jaws dropped instantly!

Me: What kind of information did you give him on the contract?

He: Nothing much, I didn't signed anything and got the full contract (including the carbon copies) here with me.

Me: You never ever let someone come into the house like that. Now he sees our whole place and the alarm system we have!!!!

I took the contract and noticed our Gas Tank Number field is filled.

Me: Where did you get the info from?

Boy: Oh, the guy went downstair to our furnace room and got it from our tank.

My jaw dropped for the second time that night.

Me: WHAT?!?!?!? He even went downstair. Now he knows the layout of our house and figure out how to get in la!!!!!!!!!

Boy: So what should I do now?

Me: Call Enbridge, report this to the cop because you just let a stranger into our house!

The conversation went on for a little while we continue with our dinner.

After dinner, I looked up the company on Google and here's what I found:

RedFlagDeals.com - a very reputable Canadian forum.  And all I saw were these words 'Cancelling', 'Screwed' and 'Scam'.

I went to the forum and started reading peoples' comments to my boy.  Some people weren't as lucky as we were because they actually signed a contract with them and can't get out of it now.

*Sigh*  The morale of the story is don't open the stupid door to strangers and let them into the house.  Seriously, even a 5 year old knows better!!!!
