Did you know that most of those images are actually the face of King Tutankhamun; often refer to as King Tut?
Toronto has a wonderful gallery called Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) which is currently exhibiting the artifacts from King Tut's tomb. This exhibit started in November and will be wrapping up in mid April 2010. AGO opens until 8:30 p.m. every Wednesday and 5:00 p.m. on other days. Several of us decided to get discounted tickets through my work and headed downtown to see the great pharaoh.
Aside: AGO actually hosted a King Tut exhibit back in 1979 and it was also in collabaration with National Geographic.
The exhibit started off with a short intro film narranted by Harrison Ford (such a sexy voice....) and then these big doors will open you to the actual display. Half of the artifacts is actually from other pharaoh's tombs. Unfortuately they don't allow you to take pictures (there were many secur, starring at you like hawks) so can't show my readers la.
You walk through room after room showing different stuff. For example, there was a room displaying all the gold jewellery and another room showing artifacts of other Pharah's high officials. You get the picture...
Then we walked into a room introducting the British Egyptologist Howard Carter that discovered King tut tomb. Many pictures were displayed in the room showing how and where they discovered the tomb.
I am going to stop talking about the actual display here because don't want to spoil the surprises for those who have not yet gone to the exhibit. But definitely worth going because they displayed many neat little things. For example, they showed the little game Tut played when he was young. (see sample below)

Anyways, I learned a lot and it actually got me thinking about going on an Egypt trip one day : )
To end this entry, I want to show my readers the little gimmink the gallery try to make you buy at the gift shop. Who's going to pay that much $$ to buy something like this????
