Smoke's Poutinerie

Smoke's Poutinerie opened in early November and is the first (and probably only) poutine restaurant in Toronto. Although my bf and I planned to try it out one day for dinner. But thanks to Mr. J, I got the pleasure of tasting their poutine for the first time last friday for lunch.

The Original poutine is french fries with cheese curds and covered with 'special' gravy. Poutine (IMO) is definitely a Canadian cuisine. We got potatoes and cows, so why not put them together.

Smoke's Poutinerie offers a large variation of the typical basic poutine. I had the chicken and peas and Mr. J got the Jerk Chicken. But he swears the Pulled-Pork is the best one there.

The Jerk was AMAZING! I took a picture but honestly it looks really bad. So I'm not going to post it up and make everyone sick.

My Chicken and Peas on the other hand was much better. The one thing I don't like about my food is that the gravy was only luke-warm. That's probably because Mr. J had to pick them up and run back to the office in the midst of a cold Friday afternoon. Smoke's should really do delivery, I'd definitely order it that way instead.

It comes in a brown paper box. Good for recycling.

Chicken was moist and the peas weren't mushy - Quite colourful

The cost of my lunch was about $8 CDN. Expensive for lunch but the portion is HUGE. Ladies, I'd suggest sharing this meal if you are thinking of dieting.
