Dimmi is located at the heart of Yorkville. Yorkville is known for brand name stores, Four Season Hotel so Hollywood stars always hang around this area whenever they visit Toronto. We walked in last night secretly hoping to see Tom Cruise since he was in Toronto promoting his new movie. *sigh* no luck at all.
It was freezing cold last night [again] so I was very glad to see Dimmi has a two-door entrance system. (Unlike the other ones on Bloor St) There are 3 panel of windows at the picture below. Let's name it Panel #1, #2, #3 [from L to R]. There are actually another set of 3 panel of doors behind the Exit sign. Again let's name it Panel #4, #5, #6 [from L to R]. So really there is a small area between these 6 panels. If you are coming from the outside, you'll enter from Panel #6, then walk to Panel #1 to get into the restaurant. The most genis thing about this system is that cold air are never directly blow into the restaurant because it all gets trapped in between the panel of doors. So Smart ah! Imagine if you are sitting at the bar and someone opens Panel #3 when it's -30 outside, you would be swearing at people all night long.
We started off with some appentizer - Calamari Fritti. M小姐 and I thought it had too much batter. Next time we'll probably order the Charboiled one instead.
We each ordered our own entree. We actually had to wait a little while before we had our meal. I ordered the Rigatoni a la Vodka. It was sooooooo good. In fact, I forgot to snap a picture of it because I was inhaling it as soon as it arrived. It was supposed to have pancetta in it, but I thought it could use some more. My bf and M小姐 ordered the Tagliollini a la Gamberi. IMO it didn't have enough tomato sauce and it has a strong seafood aftertaste. V先生 had a calzone and he thought it was pretty good.
Overall, the food was fine. The server is Italian and probably would have prefer to serve non-Chinese because we didn't order any wine or dessert afterwards. That means he didn't get too much tips from us. The total came out to about $100 CDN for 4 people.
Would I go back again? Yeah, my Pancetta Pasta was good. But my bf was disappointed yet again with them. Sorry la! Next time we'll go to Terroni law.
